Our Goal is Always the Same

The Mission of the Amherst Boys & Girls Club: To enable all young people, especially those who need support most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Our current home at 39 N Pleasant Street in Amherst.

The Amherst Boys & Girls Club will provide our members with:

  • A safe place to learn and grow
  • Ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals
  • Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
  • Hope and opportunity

Technology isn’t the only thing that has changed since our founding in 1909. We moved to a new facility, started accepting girls to the Club, expanded our programs and membership numbers, and even moved again. Yet there is one thing that never changed—our purpose.

For more than 100 years, the Amherst Boys & Girls Club has been dedicated to providing enriching programs in a safe, structured environment. These programs help individuals, ages 9 – 18, become more active physically and socially, so that they can begin to explore the person they are becoming as well as the community they call home.

Programs range from life skills such as cooking to group activities like our annual pool tournament. Speakers and session leaders sometimes visit the club to discuss topics that hit home, including discussions on substance abuse, discrimination, and bullying. In addition, our onsite staff, provides the right blend of compassion, self-empowerment, and maturity so members become grounded, yet thoughtful individuals.
